FASHION NOTES
The sleeves of many coats and jackets begin at the shoulder, and being laid in pleats, give the whole shape a melon effect.
Buttons play an important part in trimming this season; they are used in all sorts of ways and in all sorts of decorative shapes and materials, such as agate, cornelian, ivory, pearl antique gold and silver. Some are painted and some set with semi-precious materials. One way is to mount buttons on strips of satin and use them for trimming.
Long pelisses are going to be worn. A very pretty shape hangs full to the feet behind and plain in front, and has a yoke and deep cuffs to the bishop sleeves trimmed with fur. A handsome pelisse made very full hangs in godet pleats at the back from a pointed yoke, and has arm capes edged and trimmed with bands of fur. This pelisse is tied in front at the neck by broad satin ribbons.
